Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disorder that causes hair loss on the scalp, face, and sometimes other parts of the body. It occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks the hair follicles, causing hair to fall out in small, round patches. While the exact cause of the disorder is unknown, it is thought to be related to genetic and environmental factors.
Types of Alopecia Areata
Alopecia Areata manifests in different forms depending on the extent of hair loss:
1.Alopecia Areata (Patchy): The most common form, where small, round patches of hair are lost on the scalp or other body parts.
2. Alopecia Totalis:
This form involves complete hair loss on the scalp.
3. Alopecia Universalis:
This is the rarest and most severe form, leading to the loss of all hair on the scalp, face, and body.
Symptoms
Sudden hair loss in small, round patches, typically on the scalp
Smooth, hairless areas with no visible signs of inflammation or scarring
Occasional itching or tingling before hair falls out
In some cases, changes in nails such as ridges, pits, or brittleness
